Designed as a modern "Californian Loft", the Emek Hefer boutique office, located on the penthouse floor of an ex-industrial building, conveys luxury, warmth and timeless design. The 570sqm luxury office space showcases an elegant lounge, dining/meeting area and a suspended drinks bar. Through meaningful integration of light, color and texture, the office space hosts a composition of lattice vertical and horizontal elements which act as a skin, designed to either reveal or conceal the new uses integrated within the space. Blurring the boundaries between inside and out, the closed main façade is punctuated by large window openings expanding out on to a south-facing garden terrace and reflection pool, allowing natural light to enter the space, zenith and linearly. The interior space and outdoor terrace are treated as one sweeping, spatial gesture. Light and material treatment of the walls and ceilings extend from the inside to the outside, creating visual connection and treating the space as one homogeneous whole.
Revealing new layers of form and light, the closed northern facade is softly illuminated with highly integrated, indirect linear lighting and wall grazers that carefully sculpt and conceal openings within the space that do not align to the new uses. In this sense, the design combines three key components – materiality, daylight and artificial light- all working in tandem together to reveal different spatial qualities. The design of the interior space combines hard and soft edges and integrated light within the architecture, in order to expose the full potential of the materials. The walls are clad with American walnut and wooden beams which extend from the ceiling to the outdoor pergola and balcony.
The walnut ceiling includes discreet, recessed lighting hidden within the cladding to provide general ambient lighting. The deliberate use of warmer color temperatures accentuates the warmth of the space and evokes a sense of intimacy for employees and guests. Soft furnishings and rhythmic application characterize the interior space, creating visual hierarchy and surprising connections between old and new. The use of terrazzo stone flooring, marble workstations and carpentry details draw out the office's timeless aspirations.
